Tour Highlights: Explore Bangkok Your Way with Wandee
Discover the highlights of Bangkok with Wandee, a local Thai guide who was born and lives in Bangkok.
This private full-day tour combines three of Bangkok’s most famous landmarks — the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun — with a traditional long-tail boat journey through the city’s historic canals (klongs).
Because this is a private tour, the day is yours. We can adjust the pace, spend longer where you are most interested, stop for lunch at a local restaurant and, where possible, adapt the itinerary to suit you. Hotel pickup and return are available in Bangkok.
If you would prefer to experience Bangkok like a local, the tour can also be arranged using BTS, MRT, river ferry and tuk-tuk
The Grand Palace
Begin your Bangkok adventure at the spectacular Grand Palace, the spiritual and cultural heart of Thailand.
Admire the glittering architecture, golden spires and intricate detail of this remarkable royal complex. Within the Grand Palace grounds we visit Wat Phra Kaew, home to Thailand’s revered Emerald Buddha, carved from a single block of jadeite.
I recommend visiting the Grand Palace early in the day whenever possible, when temperatures are more comfortable and it is generally less busy. As we explore, I’ll explain the history, stories and significance behind the buildings rather than simply showing you around.
Wat Pho, Home of the Reclining Buddha
Next we visit Wat Pho, famous for its enormous 46-metre-long Reclining Buddha.
Wat Pho is also closely associated with traditional Thai massage and is one of Bangkok’s most important historic temples. Take time to appreciate the beautiful murals, chedis and more than 1,000 Buddha images while discovering some of the history behind this fascinating temple.
Private Long-Tail Boat Canal Tour
Then it’s time to see a very different side of Bangkok.
Step aboard a traditional long-tail boat for an approximately 90-minute journey through Bangkok’s historic canals, or klongs.
Away from the busy streets, you’ll see another side of the city:
* Traditional wooden houses built on stilts
* Riverside temples and communities
* Everyday life along the canals
* Local wildlife — perhaps even a monitor lizard or two!
* The quieter side of Bangkok that many visitors never see
There may also be an opportunity to feed the fish along the way.
Wat Arun to Finish
We finish the main sightseeing with a visit to magnificent Wat Arun, one of Bangkok’s most recognisable landmarks.
Its distinctive central prang is decorated with colourful porcelain and ceramic pieces and makes a spectacular sight from close up.
It is a wonderful way to finish a day exploring some of Bangkok’s most important cultural and historic sights

Lunch can be arranged at a local riverside restaurant, or you’re free to choose your own — I am happy to recommend something that suits your taste. Flexibility is always part of the Wandee experience.

Travel Like a Local
Experience Bangkok using BTS, MRT, river ferry and tuk-tuks, accompanied and guided by Wandee throughout the day. This is a great option if you’d like to experience Bangkok’s public transport and see how local people travel around the city, while keeping the cost lower.
Important – Grand Palace Dress Code
The Grand Palace has a strict dress code.
Women: Should wear modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees. See-through clothing, bare shoulders and very short clothing are not permitted.
Men: Long trousers and a shirt with sleeves are required. Tank tops and singlets are not permitted.
Please dress appropriately before arriving at the Grand Palace to avoid delays or the need to purchase additional clothing.
